TECHNIQUES

Our Hollow Core Swimbaits can be fished at variety of depths. THESE BAITS DO NOT FLOAT, however using a light weight belly weight attached to the shank of the hook (see rigging instructions) you can swim the Hollow Core at or near the surface with a slow steady retrieve. If you are wanting a high speed retrieve "burning the bait" add more weight to the shank of the hook.

Using a 7 foot or longer rod will add to your casting distance and hook setting ability. By keeping your rod tip high (10 o'clock position) you will be able to swim the bait near the surface. By gradually lowering the rod angle during the retrieve you will give yourself a better hook setting angle while at the same time the bait will be able to maintain the same depth. Having a low rod angle through out your retrieve will allow the bait to swim deeper.

Always make sure you set the hook with a strong sweeping action. Allow yourself enough range of motion to move as much line as possible .

WEEDS

Weedless rigging is clearly the best option when fishing in weed cover. Try pitching this bait into open pockets or swimming it slowly through lily pads. The best opportunities to get a bite will come from deeper weed edges in clearer water. Any hard weed edges and weed points with an increase in depth are key locations. Boat lanes create great open water with long sections to fish our bait running parallel to the edged.

STUMPS AND TIMBER

Your best option to fish wood cover is to slow role our bait in a effort to make contact cut stump fields and submerged standing timber. When it comes to lay downs you should make an effort to parallel the trunks and larger limbs if possible.

POINTS

How can you pass up a main lake or secondary point. If one side has a steeper drop off the start by positioning yourself in that deeper water and casting to the shallows then retrieving the bait and letting it follow the bottom contour. If you don't get a hit try a different angle. Next move to the other side of the point and try a few casts. You can also try positioning your boat near the middle of the point and casting from shallow to deep. Now you are retrieving "uphill".

Don't forget that wind direction, the presence of current and angle of the sun all effect the way bass position themselves area of water you want to fish.
